Communications Coordinator

The National Women's History Museum seeks a highly motivated, creative, and detail-oriented communications generalist to assist with public relations, communications, events, and marketing efforts.  This position reports to the vice president of external affairs.
 

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Assist with writing, editing, and proofing editorial, programmatic, and marketing content for various audiences, including social media, print, and website;
  • Support development of communications, marketing, and event collateral;
  • Conduct research that supports institutional communications and outreach, including programs, digital engagement, audience development, and partnerships;
  • Assist with the development of the Museum’s print and digital publications;
  • Develop reports and information about social media and web analytics;
  • Assist with graphic creation for digital use;
  • Assist with media relations and the development of press materials and resources;
  • Collaborate with Museum staff on ideas for programmatic and communications-related content;
  • Create and manage website content using a CMS-based platform; and
  • General communications, marketing, and events duties, as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field.
  • At least two years of experience in communications, public relations, marketing, or related field.
  • A strong writer and editor, with experience writing short-form, marketing and social media copy and editing copy of various lengths and styles.
  • Exceptional attention to detail (we can't stress this enough) and strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to conduct verifiable online research.
  • Proficient with technology and eager to learn new platforms and software.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and various social media platforms. CMS, graphic design, and/or video editing experience a plus.
  • Ability to work independently. Demonstrated self-starter that meets deadlines and consistently shows initiative and follow-through.

Salary: $57,000-$62,000 annually, commensurate with experience.  We offer a full range of employee benefits, including a 403 (b) savings plan with an employer match.

This position is a virtual position based in the DC-metro area. Occasional in-person meetings and events, during and outside of business hours, will be required.
