Women’s History at National History Day

This year at National History Day on June 11th and 12th, Education Programs Manager, Kenna Howat, and Digital Writer, Ashlee Anderson participated as judges at the national competition. Howat judged junior papers and Anderson judged junior individual exhibits and senior papers. On June 14th Kenna Howat, handed out awards for the best women’s history project at National History Day. In the junior division the award went Catherine Boyette, Grace Amantea, and Laura Shelton from Henderson Middle School in Hendersonville, North Carolina for their group performance The 1977 National Women’s Conference: Walking the Planks into Modern Feminism. In the senior division the award went to Mia Lazar from Blacksburg High School in Blacksburg, Virginia for her individual documentary When Compromise is Unacceptable: Coeducation at the University of Virginia.
