Nancy Azara is a sculptor, painter, and educator who has shown her carved, painted, and gilded wood sculptures both locally and internationally in places as diverse as Italy and Taiwan. She founded a feminist art institute with 5 other women The New York Feminist Art Institute, NYFAI (1979-1990) where she taught a workshop called Visual Diaries: Consciousness Raising and Art Making. She has also written a book Spirit Taking Form: Making a Spiritual Practice of Making Art. She is a mother and grandmother and her life partner is Darla Bjork, MD, artist and physician. |
