Sophia O'Neal
Sophia O'Neal is the Development Associate for the National Women’s History Museum. She has dedicated her career to advancing women’s representation, managing diverse spaces, building robust partnerships, and high-dollar fundraising in digital and in-person settings.
As a campaign manager, Sophia oversaw the election of one of the youngest Latino officeholders in Oregon history. She scaled that success into organizing thousands of volunteers in-person and in virtual spaces in Oregon and Montana. As a fundraiser, Sophia raised over 1.5 million dollars on digital platforms for women candidates in Iowa, Montana, Ohio, New York, and Florida in a single election cycle.
Additionally, she has created innovative programing to provide women comprehensive information on civic engagement and running for office, as well as recruited, negotiated, and secured major partnerships with power players like the California state chapter of the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) and Princeton University’s Theological Seminary.
A first-generation college student, Sophia earned her B.A. in Politics and Government with a minor in Gender and Sexuality Studies at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon. She dedicated her senior thesis (Madam President, B.A.: Women's Ascent to Power in College Democrats of Oregon) and TEDxPacificUWomen talk (Why 2018 Must Be the Last "Year of the Woman") to examining the motivations, barriers, and public perception of women's political participation and leadership.
Sophia is driven by a profound sense of responsibility and passion for coalition building. This line of work is deeply personal and some of the greatest joys of her career have come from her relationships with volunteers, coalition partners, and donors.
