Lydia McKelvie

Lydia McKelvie is an art historian and digital specialist based in Florence, Italy. She holds a B.A. in art history and history from Washington University in St. Louis and an M.A. in art history from Syracuse University, where she researched the representation of women in Italian Renaissance religious narratives. She received the 2020-2021 Greenberg Curatorial Fellowship at the Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum, during which she co-curated the exhibition Women’s Work, centered on the depiction of women’s labor in 18th-21st century American art. She has over five years of experience in digital humanities research projects, including the Meters of Ancient Drama Project at Washington University in St. Louis and as Digital & Open Scholarship Graduate Assistant at Syracuse University Libraries. As the 2025-2027 Evelyn Y. Davis Virtual Research Fellowship in Women's History, she is responsible for working with the Education and Exhibitions Team as a research associate providing programmatic support for the Museum's virtual education programs and online presence as well as assisting in the development of content for the Museum's compendium of online learning resources.
